Christopher N. Geary's 10 Principles of Shaolin Kempo

  1. Shaolin Kempo is never limited to one style or technique.
  2. A tree cannot blossom without strong roots. If you do not have a good stance, you have no balance, if you have no balance you have no technique.
  3. Respect others. When you fight, even if you win, you lose.
  4. In combat, as in life, one cannot fight or live with an unfocused mind.
  5. Be patient. Do something right or don't do it at all.
  6. Know thyself. A true master of kempo spends a lifetime mastering technique and never wanting to use it.
  7. Life is war. Self control brings it to peace.
  8. Know your history. If you don't know where you've been, you will not know where you're going.
  9. To go above and beyond, you must learn to be open minded, listen and absorb.
  10. Whatever you do wrong today will be your first thought tomorrow.
