Kempo Creed
Kempo is my Secret, I bear no arms. May my God grant me perseverance and self-control,
and help me if I must reveal my secret in defense of myself, or another. Let conscience
be my guide and peace be my goal. I shall fall seven times only to rise eight, my life begins now.

Dojo Rules & Etiquette
- Please remove your shoes, and any headgear
(i.e. hats), and bow before entering the Dojo. Bow when leaving
the Dojo as well. The reason we remove our shoes is twofold: It is an
ancient tradition and sign of a visitor's humility to remove their footwear.
Most importantly, it preserves the hygiene of the Dojo from the germ
and bacteria-laden street. Remember, good health and peak fitness are
key reasons why you joined Christopher N.
Geary's Shaolin Kempo Karate
- Always enter from the rear of a class in
session. Never walk in front of an instructor during a class.
- Speak quietly when classes are in session.
- Eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum
in the Dojo is prohibited.
- Foul language in or near the Dojo is prohibited.
- Bow to the flag, founder, and instructor
at the beginning and end of each class. Always bow to your workout
partner when working out. This is a sign of mutual respect. It does
not have a religious significance.
- Do not disrupt the flow of a class by interrupting
the instructor with questions. This applies to Group and Private
Lessons. Your instructor will reserve a time at the end of class to
answer any questions you may have. In the early stages of training,
too many questions on your part will cause unnecessary delays, disrupt
the flow of the learning process and ultimately confuse you.
- Possession of Drugs or Alcohol in the Dojo
by students is grounds for immediate dismissal.
- No sparring is allowed in the Dojo unless
supervised by the Chief Instructor.
- No one will participate in tournament competitions
or any form of underground fighting without the Chief Instructors permission.
- All beginning students must wear an all-white
Karate Uniform (Gi). When a student reaches Blue Belt, he or
she will wear an all-black uniform. The Christopher
N. Geary's Shaolin Kempo Karate logo patch is always worn
over the heart.
- Always refer to your instructor as Sensei
or Shihan as appropriate.
- A dirty, wrinkled uniform reflects badly
on you as a student. Always wear a clean, pressed Gi to class.
- A student must not ask about their next
rank test date. This shows a lack of patience and humility, as
well as disrespect for your instructor's professional judgment. When
your instructor feels you are ready to test for a higher belt, he or
she will let you know.
- Control your emotions at all times.
The Dojo is no place for tempers to flare.
- Support your Dojo. Always purchase
your martial arts supplies, uniforms and training equipment from your
instructor. This helps keep tuition at its current level.
- Shirts worn with the uniform (Gi) must
be a Christopher N. Geary's Shaolin Kempo Karate shirt.
- Attendance at anniversary celebrations
is mandatory.
